American Motors Corporation: A Brief History

The American Motors Corporation, commonly known as AMC, was a prominent American automobile manufacturer. It was established on May 1, 1954, as a result of a merger between the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and the Hudson Motor Car Company. At the time, it was the largest corporate merger in the history of the United States.

AMC's main competitors were other automakers with similar annual sales levels, such as Studebaker, Packard, Kaiser Motors, and Willys-Overland. However, its biggest competitors were the Big Three—Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler.

AMC's Production Line
